Effect of Dentin Desensitizer Containing Novel Bioactive Glass on the Permeability of Dentin

Ji-Hyun Jang et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of novel bioactive glass (BAG)-containing desensitizers on dentin permeability. The results showed that desensitizers containing BAG significantly reduced dentin fluid flow rates after two weeks of storage in simulated body fluid. Raman spectroscopy analysis also revealed the formation of hydroxyapatite precipitates on the dentin surface after desensitizer treatment.

Evaluation of α-Chitosan from Crab Shell and β-Chitosan from Squid Gladius Based on Biochemistry Performance

Bailei Li et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the biochemistry performance of alpha-chitosan and beta-chitosan from different marine sources using weighted composite index method, providing a theoretical basis for better development and utilization of chitosan biomedical materials. The composite weighted index values indicated that beta-chitosan from Illex argentinus squid gladius showed significantly better biochemistry performance than alpha-chitosan from Portunus trituberculatus shell, suggesting great potential for biomedical materials.

Analysis of permeability and biological properties of dentin treated with experimental bioactive glasses

Bruna de Oliveira Reis et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the obliterating capability and biological performance of desensitizing agents, concluding that Bioglass-based desensitizers showed similar effects to commercially available products in terms of permeability and dentin biological properties. The research suggests a need for novel desensitizing agents that can effectively and long-lastingly obliterate dentinal tubules to address the clinical need for dentin sensitivity treatment.
