Effect of inner strain on the performance of dual-phase oxygen permeable membranes

Jingyi Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that in dual-phase membranes, the fluorite phase has a lower thermal expansion coefficient, while the perovskite phase has a higher thermal expansion coefficient. The inner strain affects the performance of the dual-phase membranes by limiting the chemical expansion of the perovskite phase.

High flux asymmetric oxygen permeation membrane based on BaFe0.95Sm0.05O3-δ-Ce0.9Sm0.1O2-δ dual-phase composite

Shipeng Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, a dual-phase oxygen permeation membrane consisting of 30 wt% perovskite phase and 70 wt% fluorite phase was prepared using a one-pot EDTA/citric-nitrate combustion method. The membrane showed improved oxygen permeability after coating with a porous LSCF layer. The asymmetric membrane exhibited excellent permeation flux at 950 degrees C.

High performance oxygen permeation membrane: Sr and Ti co-doped BaFeO3-δ ceramics

Zhipeng Sun et al.

Summary: Novel cobalt-free perovskite-type oxides have been successfully prepared and characterized for their structural stability and oxygen permeability. The cubic perovskite-type structure can be stabilized at ambient temperature, but the oxygen permeation flux is slightly decreased. The substitution of titanium for partial iron enhances the stability of the membrane against different atmospheres, but reduces oxygen permeability.

High-entropy ceramics: Present status, challenges, and a look forward

Huimin Xiang et al.

Summary: High-entropy ceramics are solid solutions of inorganic compounds with diverse crystal and electronic structures, providing large space for property tuning through band structure and phonon engineering. In addition to traditional strengthening, hardening, and low thermal conductivity, HECs exhibit new properties such as colossal dielectric constant and super ionic conductivity. Challenges in processing, characterization, and property predictions are highlighted, along with future directions for material exploration and in-depth characterization.

High-entropy stoichiometric perovskite oxides based on valence combinations

Jinxu Ma et al.

Summary: The valence-combination strategy was used to design B-site substitution non-equimolar stoichiometric high-entropy perovskite oxides, with various valence combinations identified with maximum configurational entropy. Experimental synthesis on 8 valence combinations showed that single-phase HEPOs were obtained from 6 of them, indicating most HEPOs have ordered structures. The formation of single-phase HEPOs and ordered structures was discussed in terms of structural tolerance factor and valence-difference factor.
