One-step calcination synthesis of accordion-like MXene-derived TiO2@C coupled with g-C3N4: Z-scheme heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic NO removal

Tong Wang et al.

Summary: This study explored an effective method for removing NO from simulated flue gas at normal temperature using accordion-like MXene-derived TiO2@C/g-C3N4. The combination of photocatalysis and H2O2 oxidation achieved a high removal rate of 94.0% for NO. Furthermore, TiO2@C/g-C3N4 exhibited enhanced performance in accelerating the separation of electron-hole pairs.

Time experience during social distancing: A longitudinal study during the first months of COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil

Andre Mascioli Cravo et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of social distancing and the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic on participants' time awareness and perception of time intervals. The findings show that time was perceived as slower at the beginning but this perception decreased over time. Time awareness was strongly associated with psychological factors such as loneliness, stress, and positive emotions.

Photo-Fenton degradation of tetracycline over Z-scheme Fe-g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 heterojunctions: Mechanism insight, degradation pathways and DFT calculation

Caihua Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Fe-g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 Z-scheme heterojunction was elaborately designed for the degradation of tetracycline (TC). The performance of H2O2 decomposition in the Z-scheme heterojunction was improved by the doping of iron, enhancing the transportability of photogenerated electrons and facilitating the spread of radicals. The study also found that O-1(2) and center dot O-2- were the main active species participating in the degradation process, according to efficacy analyses and experimental results.

Bifunctional 2D/2D g-C3N4/BiO2-x nanosheets heterojunction for bacterial disinfection mechanisms under visible and near-infrared light irradiation

Nannan He et al.

Summary: This study reports a specific bifunctional 2D/2D g-C3N4/BiO(2-x) nanosheets heterojunction that shows efficient photocatalytic disinfection under visible and NIR light irradiation. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity is attributed to the Z-scheme interfacial heterojunction facilitating the migration of photogenerated carries. The study also describes the disinfection mechanism and observes significant changes in microbial communities on water surfaces.

Porous graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets for photocatalytic degradation of formaldehyde gas

Lingru Kong et al.

Summary: In this study, porous g-C3N4 nanosheets with enhanced photocatalytic performance were easily obtained by treating melamine with organic acids and aldehydes. The improved photocatalytic activity was attributed to increased adsorption of formaldehyde around holes, reducing carrier diffusion distance and increasing reaction probability. This provided numerous reactive sites for formaldehyde.

Controllable Approach to Carbon-Deficient and Oxygen-Doped Graphitic Carbon Nitride: Robust Photocatalyst Against Recalcitrant Organic Pollutants and the Mechanism Insight

Xinyue Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed a self-modification strategy to prepare carbon-deficient and oxygen-doped g-C3N4 catalyst, which showed high efficiency in photocatalytic removal of p-nitrophenol and atrazine. The mechanism behind this efficiency is the synergistic effect of carbon vacancies and oxygen doping sites in generating abundant active oxygen species.

Exciton-Mediated Energy Transfer in Heterojunction Enables Infrared Light Photocatalysis

Yuanjin Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes an exciton-mediated energy transfer strategy in heterostructures to achieve efficient infrared light response in semiconductors. By utilizing a black phosphorous/polymeric carbon nitride (BP/CN) heterojunction, improved conversion rate and selectivity in amine-amine oxidative coupling reaction under infrared light irradiation were observed. This research opens up a new approach for designing efficient photocatalysts activated by infrared light.
