Shiyu Liu et al.

Summary: The carbon-catalyzed persulfate-based advanced oxidation process (PS-AOP) has gained attention for its green and economical nature. Sulfur-doped ordered mesoporous carbons (S-OMCs) were used to activate peroxydisulfate (PDS) for ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal. The study found a correlation between defect level and O-1(2) yield, and investigated the impact of various reaction conditions and water matrix. The S-OMC-1000/PDS activation system showed promising results for CIP removal, even in the presence of common inorganic anions and natural organic matter (NOM).

New insight into the mechanism of enhanced photo-Fenton reaction efficiency for Fe-doped semiconductors: A case study of Fe/g-C3N4

Keyan Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals that under visible light, the iron-doped semiconductor catalyst maintains its Fe2+/Fe3+ ratio during photo-Fenton reactions, while this ratio decreases gradually in dark Fenton reactions. It is demonstrated that Fe3+ can capture photo-generated electrons from the semiconductor and revert back to Fe2+ under visible light, sustaining catalytic activity in the process.
