Water-Recyclable Chitosan-Based Ion-Imprinted Thermoresponsive Hydrogel for Rare Earth Metal Ions Accumulation

Yuheng Qiu et al.

Summary: In this study, a water-recyclable chitosan-based La3+-imprinted thermoresponsive hydrogel (CLIT) was developed for the accumulation of rare earth metal La3+ ions from solution. The CLIT exhibited reversible thermosensitivity and imprinted sites for La3+ ions, and showed a high adsorption capacity under optimal conditions. The La3+-adsorbed CLIT could be easily recycled by rinsing with cold water, and it retained good adsorption capability even after multiple cycles of adsorption-desorption.

Synthesis of chitosan graft poly (acrylic acid-co-2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid)/graphite oxide composite hydrogel and the study of its adsorption

Linhui Zhu et al.

Summary: Chitosan graft poly (acrylic acid-co-2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid)/graphite oxide (CTS-g-P(AA-co-AMPS)/GO) composite hydrogel was synthesized and used as an adsorbent to remove rhodamine 6G (R6G) and methyl violet (MV) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption conditions and capacities were studied in detail, and it was found that a small amount of graphite oxide can improve the adsorption capacities of both dyes. The interaction between graphite oxide and dye molecules was speculated, and the adsorption isotherms and thermodynamics were discussed.
