New insight into the regulation mechanism of visible light in naproxen degradation via activation of peroxymonosulfate by MOF derived BiFeO3

Juanjuan Yao et al.

Summary: A bismuth ferrite nanocage prepared via metal-organic-framework derivatization was used as an activator to investigate the effect of visible light on the degradation of naproxen using peroxymonosulfate activation. The results showed that the nanocage had higher activation ability, and the degradation rate constant increased significantly after the introduction of visible light. Further experiments revealed that visible light promoted the production of singlet oxygen (1O(2)) while inhibiting the generation of hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and sulfate radicals (SO4·-). The activation of peroxymonosulfate via Fe(III) was affected by electron filling and adsorbed oxygen in the presence of visible light.
