Effect of high-speed shear flocculation on the flotation kinetics of ultrafine microcrystalline graphite

Chao Ni et al.

Summary: A novel process combining high-speed shear flocculation and flotation was proposed to beneficiate ultra fine microcrystalline graphite. The flotation rate of MG in the SFF process is about 3 times as fast as that in the conventional flotation process, due to the increase in aggregate size and improved hydrophobicity of graphite particles. The SFF process shows great potential in industrial applications for separating ultrafine MG.

Highly selective gas separation by two isostructural boron cluster pillared MOFs

Wanqi Sun et al.

Summary: Two isostructural closo-dodecaborate [B12H12](2)-pillared metal organic frameworks (MOFs), BSF-4 and BSF-9, were synthesized and compared. BSF-9 exhibited efficient uptake of C2H2 with high separation selectivity over C2H4, outperforming BSF-4. The practical gas separation ability for C2H2/C2H4 mixtures on BSF-9 was confirmed.

Deciphering the CO2 emissions and emission intensity of cement sector in China through decomposition analysis

Tongyuan Wu et al.

Summary: China's CO2 emissions from cement production have not yet peaked, and recent structural changes have led to a rebound in emission intensity. Over the past three decades, inter-sector impacts have outweighed intra-sectoral mitigation effects. To achieve low-carbon transition, adopting a "reduce" approach such as reducing construction activities and improving material efficiency is a more effective policy option.

Suisui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study conducted a life cycle assessment to evaluate the environmental impact of acetylene production methods in China. The partial oxidation method showed the best environmental performance under current electric power generation structure, but with increasing use of renewable energy, the plasma method will eventually have more advantages. The study aimed to compare these methods and provide reference for sustainable development of the acetylene industry in China.

Explosion behaviors of hybrid C2H2/CaC2 dust in a confined space

Shi-xiang Song et al.

Summary: The explosion characteristics of C2H2 gas and C2H2/CaC2 dust gas-solid two-phase mixture were studied, showing that the explosion severity and risk of C2H2 gas were enhanced by adding CaC2 dust. In the oxygen atmosphere, the C2H2/CaC2 hybrid explosion was divided into two stages, with the first stage being more serious in terms of explosion risk. The solid residues of the hybrid explosion differed in composition depending on the atmosphere, with different compounds detected due to different combustion conditions. Through analysis of explosion mechanism and chemical experiments, the factors influencing the hydrolysis process and explosion behavior of the mixture were systematically explored.
