In situ prepared composite of polypyrrole and multi-walled carbon nanotubes grafted with sodium polystyrenesulfonate as ammonia gas sensor with wide detection range

Huijie Zhao et al.

Summary: NH3 gas sensors with good sensing performance, including wide detection range at room temperature, have been developed using sodium polystyrenesulfonate-grafted multi-walled carbon nanotubes (PSSNa-MWCNTs). The composite of polypyrrole with PSSNa-MWCNTs (PPy/PSSNa-MWCNT) exhibits excellent dispersibility in water and shows significantly higher response magnitude than the single components. Under optimized conditions, PPy/PSSNa-MWCNT demonstrates a wide detection range from 5 to 2000 ppm with good sensing linearity. The composite also exhibits fast, reproducible, and highly selective electrical responses towards NH3 gas due to the synergetic effect between PPy and MWCNTs.

An efficient hydrogen gas sensor based on hierarchical Ag/ZnO hollow microstructures

Sonalika Agarwal et al.

Summary: The design of hierarchical zinc oxide (ZnO) microstructures modified with silver (Ag) nanoparticles has been proven effective in enhancing hydrogen gas sensing performance. The Ag/ZnO hollow microstructures showed superior sensitivity, fast response and recovery time, as well as good stability, even at low hydrogen gas concentrations. This enhancement in sensing performance is attributed to the chemical and electronic sensitization effect of Ag nanoparticles, leading to a more sensitive sensor with improved selectivity.
