Achieving robust acoustic emission-based damage characterization of scaled laminated composites under indentation

S. Fotouhi et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel investigation on the robustness of Acoustic Emission (AE) technique in characterizing indentation-induced Damage Mechanisms (DMs) in scaled laminated composites. The results show that AE analysis can accurately identify and quantify different DMs, while the AE features are found to be dependent on variables such as sample size, geometry, and stacking sequence.
