On Secure CDRT With NOMA and Physical-Layer Network Coding

Hongjiang Lei et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new scheme to enhance the secrecy performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-based coordinated direct relay transmission (CDRT) systems with an untrusted relay. The scheme combines physical-layer network coding (PNC) and NOMA to improve spectrum efficiency. Inter-user interference and friendly jamming signals are utilized to suppress the eavesdropping ability of the untrusted relay without compromising the acceptance quality of legitimate users. The paper investigates the secrecy performance of the NOMA-based CDRT systems, derives the closed-form expression for the ergodic secrecy sum rate, and performs asymptotic analysis to gain more insights.

Adaptive Transceiver Design for High-Capacity Multi-Modal Free-Space Optical Communications With Commercial Devices and Atmospheric Turbulence

Zhouyi Hu et al.

Summary: This paper presents the design and experimental demonstration of an adaptive multi-modal FSO transceiver to enhance robustness and high capacity in free-space optical communications under atmospheric turbulence. Modulation formats and power for different transmit modes can be adaptively allocated at the transmitter side based on dynamically estimated channel state information. At the receiver side, the most suitable multi-input/multi-output decoder can be selected to meet the forward error correction requirement with minimal power consumption. Through turbulence emulation using time-division multiplexed transmitter and receiver emulation and a spatial light modulator, an aggregate data rate of 590 Gbit/s/wavelength is achieved under strong atmospheric turbulence, validating the feasibility of the proposed adaptive transceiver over a turbulent FSO link. Moreover, all key devices, such as transponder, multiplexer, and demultiplexer, used in this work are commercially available to demonstrate practical applicability.

Summary: In this study, we propose a UAV-assisted heterogeneous network as a cost effective and easy to deploy solution for transferring traffic of distributed small cells to the core network. We accurately model the mmWave channel between SBSs and NFP by considering real parameters such as UAV's vibrations, SBSs' distribution, UAVs' positions, antenna pattern and interference. We derive closed-form expressions for the SINR, outage probability and channel capacity of the UAV-based mmWave uplinks, and verify their accuracy through Monte Carlo simulations. We also investigate the impact of different channel parameters on the performance of the UAV-based uplink channel.
