Overlapping morphological, immunohistochemical and genetic features of superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor and PRDM10-rearranged soft tissue tumor

Florian Puls et al.

Summary: Superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor (SCD34FT) is a soft tissue tumor with borderline malignancy, overlapping with PRDM10 gene fusions. The tumors are morphologically indistinguishable and predominantly express CADM3, making them likely to be considered a single entity, SCD34FT. Immunohistochemistry for CADM3, combined with characteristic morphological features, is valuable in diagnosing SCD34FT.

Immunotherapy for SMARCB1-Deficient Sarcomas: Current Evidence and Future Developments

Carine Ngo et al.

Summary: Mutations in subunits of the SWI/SNF complex, especially the core subunit SMARCB1, occur frequently in human tumors, and SMARCB1 loss is a key driver event in several malignancies. Even though SMARCB1-deficient tumors have a simple genome and low mutation burden, they have been found to be immunogenic, with some responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors reported. This review discusses the potential of immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors, as a promising therapeutic strategy for SMARCB1-defective tumors. The heterogeneity among these tumors and the challenges in developing personalized immunotherapy based on molecular profiling are also highlighted.

Superficial CD34-Positive Fibroblastic Tumor A Clinicopathologic, Immunohistochemical, and Molecular Study of 59 Cases

William J. Anderson et al.

Summary: This study characterizes the clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features of superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor (SCD34FT). The results suggest that SCD34FT and PRDM10-STT may be a single entity, and immunomarkers CADM3 and WT1 can help distinguish SCD34FT from histologic mimics.

Superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor and PRDM10-rearranged soft tissue tumor are overlapping entities: a comprehensive study of 20 cases

Raul Perret et al.

Summary: Superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor (SCD34FT) and PRDM10-rearranged soft tissue tumor (PRDM10-STT) are rare mesenchymal tumors with clinicopathological similarities, suggesting they may be overlapping entities. They mainly occur in young adults, typically in the superficial soft tissues of the lower extremities.
