In-situ electrochemical modification of pre-intercalated vanadium bronze cathodes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries

Jianwei Li et al.

Summary: A simple and universal in-situ anodic oxidation method was developed to introduce dual ions (Ca(2+) and Zn2+) into bilayer delta-V2O5 frameworks forming crystallographic ultra-thin vanadium bronzes. The materials exhibited excellent energy and power densities, as well as long cycling stability. The contributions of dual ions and electrolyte additives on battery performances were systematically investigated, highlighting the significance of electrolyte-governed conversion reaction process.

PAANa-induced ductile SEI of bare micro-sized FeS enables high sodium-ion storage performance

Linjie Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a polar polymer binder sodium polyacrylate (PAANa) was used to improve the performance of metal chalcogenides (FeS) without modifying the active materials, demonstrating a special network structure that enhances the interface between active material particles and electrolytes. This new approach not only improves cyclic stability and rate performance, but also provides a new understanding of the binder on electrodes for potential battery applications.
