General control non-repressible 20 functions in the salt stress response of Arabidopsis seedling by modulating ABA accumulation

Feng Ding et al.

Summary: This study reports that the ABC F subfamily member GCN20 mediates ABA and ROS accumulation in plants during salt stress. Through mutant analysis, it was found that the expression of GCN20 is associated with plant sensitivity to salt stress and ABA accumulation. Gene expression analysis revealed that GCN20 is involved in the regulation of stress-related genes. Additionally, the mutant plants showed lower antioxidant enzyme activity and higher ROS accumulation.

Exogenous strigolactones alleviate the photosynthetic inhibition and oxidative damage of cucumber seedlings under salt stress

Xiaohua Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of exogenous strigolactone analog GR24 in alleviating salt damage in cucumber seedlings. It was found that GR24 pretreatment improved chlorophyll content, photosynthetic efficiency, and antioxidant capacity under salt stress. RNA-seq analysis revealed differentially expressed genes related to photosynthesis and oxidative stress. Additionally, H2O2 and MAPK cascade pathways were identified as potential contributors to the GR24-induced alleviation of salt stress.

Physiological and transcriptomic analyses of the effects of exogenous melatonin on drought tolerance in maize (Zea mays L.)

Chengfeng Zhao et al.

Summary: The application of exogenous melatonin can improve drought tolerance in maize by inhibiting H2O2 accumulation and promoting scavenging of excessive reactive oxygen species. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that melatonin-regulated genes are mainly involved in glutathione metabolism, calcium signaling transduction, and jasmonic acid biosynthesis. Additionally, crosstalk between melatonin and other hormones that mediate drought tolerance was observed.

Strigolactone analog (rac-GR24) enhances chilling tolerance in mung bean seedlings

Luke O. Omoarelojie et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the synthetic strigolactone analog, GR24, could enhance chilling tolerance in mung bean seedlings by regulating physiological processes. GR24 treatment inhibited chilling-induced decreases in photosystem II efficiency and yield, as well as limited superoxide anion and H2O2 accumulation in the seedlings. Furthermore, GR24 treatment ameliorated chilling-induced dehydration and disruption of water status by increasing proline content and soluble sugar accumulation.
