Summary: This paper summarizes the mechanisms of disease resistance induced by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and the application of AMF in plant fungal, bacterial, and nematode diseases. It also discusses the influence of AMF on root morphology and function, as well as the potential of AMF to prevent plant diseases through soil environment regulation and competition.

Immobilization of chromium enhanced by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in semi-aquatic habitats with biochar addition

Zhongbing Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of AMF on a wetland plant and chromium immobilization in semi-aquatic habitats. Results showed that AMF enhanced the antioxidant capacity of the plants and reduced chromium concentrations in the water. Additionally, biochar addition further improved chromium accumulation.

Symbiosis of isoetid plant species with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi under aquatic versus terrestrial conditions

Radka Sudova et al.

Summary: Research on the interaction between isoetid plants and native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in submerged habitats is limited. The study shows that the contribution of AMF to the fitness of their hosts in submerged conditions is considerably less than under terrestrial conditions. This suggests that although functional AM symbiosis can develop in submerged habitats, it may not play as significant a role in plant growth and nutrition as in terrestrial habitats.

Diverse and abundant arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in ecological floating beds used to treat eutrophic water

Zhouying Xu et al.

Summary: Aquatic plants in EFBs host diverse (229 OTUs) and abundant (348,799 sequences) AMF communities. Different plant species host different taxa of AMF. Cyperaceae, originally considered non-mycorrhizal, may actually belong to a variable mycorrhizal plant family. The composition of AMF communities in EFBs is closely linked to nutrient concentrations (nitrogen and phosphorus).

Summary: The study found that inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and/or dark septate endophytes (DSE) in micro-vertical flow constructed wetlands (MVFCWs) can significantly improve the purification of wastewater polluted with metallic nanoparticles (CuO-NPs).The associations of MVFCW-reeds-AMF/DSE show great potential for remediation of metallic-NPs-polluted wastewater.

Effects of Aeration on the Formation of Arbuscular Mycorrhiza under a Flooded State and Copper Oxide Nanoparticle Removal in Vertical Flow Constructed Wetlands

Zhouying Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different aeration strategies on the formation of arbuscular mycorrhiza in vertical flow constructed wetlands, showing that intermittent aeration significantly increased AMF colonization, promoting plant growth and pollutant removal. Excessive and continuous aeration had little positive effect on AMF colonization.
