Summary: Half of elderly rheumatoid arthritis patients exhibit myopenia, which worsens physical dysfunction as a mediator of aging. Myopenia, high HAQ-DI, active smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease are the main relevant characteristics of elderly RA patients.
