Synchronous feedrate scheduling for the dual-robot machining of complex surface parts with varying wall thickness

Yuwen Sun et al.

Summary: This paper presents a synchronous feedrate scheduling strategy of dual robots for the mirror machining of complex surface parts with varying wall thickness. By establishing the synchronous mapping relationship between toolpaths and building a time-optimal synchronous feedrate scheduling model, the synchronous movement of two cutters can be guaranteed. Linear programming algorithm is used to achieve the exact expression of feedrate profiles for accelerating the solution of the nonlinear model. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its potential in accurate synchronization of dual robots.

Type synthesis, unified kinematic analysis and prototype validation of a family of Exechon inspired parallel mechanisms for 5-axis hybrid kinematic machine tools

Tengfei Tang et al.

Summary: A family of one translational two rotational over-constrained Exechon inspired parallel mechanisms is synthesized through screw theory, and further comparatively analyzed in terms of inverse kinematics, singularity occurrence, and reachable workspace. A preferred configuration is selected based on kinematic evaluations, and a laboratory prototype is fabricated and experimentally tested to verify the feasibility of the type synthesis and the correctness of the kinematic analyses. By integrating the selected parallel mechanism with a sliding gantry, a novel hybrid kinematic machine tool is developed to perform 5-axis machining tasks, demonstrating the potential for constructing 5-axis serial-parallel hybrid machining devices.

Summary: This paper focuses on the accuracy analysis in mobile robot machining, defining a tool center point (TCP) error index to evaluate machining error. The study enumerates different error sources affecting TCP error index and proposes a theoretical accuracy analysis to eliminate it. Results show that the force-controlled grinding head can compensate TCP error effectively, reducing it below 40mm during mobile robot machining.

An approach to predict lower-order dynamic behaviors of a 5-DOF hybrid robot using a minimum set of generalized coordinates

Long Wu et al.

Summary: This paper presents an effective semi-analytical approach for predicting lower-order dynamics of a five degrees of-freedom hybrid robot named TriMule. The method formulates the governing equations of motion of limbs within the parallel mechanism by finite element analysis and reduces them to super-element models, leading to the establishment of the dynamic model of the entire system by merging the models of the parallel mechanism and wrist. The computational results demonstrate good agreement with those obtained by a full order FE model and experimental modal tests.
