Observation of plasma inflows in laser-produced Sn plasma and their contribution to extreme-ultraviolet light output enhancement

Kentaro Tomita et al.

Summary: This study reports the first measurement of two-dimensional flow-velocity fields in Sn-LPPs using the collective Thomson scattering technique. The results show that the plasma inflows maintain the temperature and density suitable for EUV light emission, leading to increased EUV output.

Applying Thomson scattering to diagnosing turbulent density and velocity fluctuations in a gas-puff z-pinch

S. V. R. Rocco et al.

Summary: The electron plasma wave feature in the time-resolved Thomson scattering spectrum is used to obtain the local electron density in imploding high energy density gas-puff z-pinch plasmas. The electron density and temperature are measured in the imploding plasma sheath prior to stagnation. The results show that the electron temperature measured through ion acoustic wave is four times lower than the temperature measured through electron plasma wave.

Electron density measurement via dual-angle Thomson scattering diagnosis

Wei-qiang Tan et al.

Summary: The article presents experiments measuring electron density of aluminum plasma using dual-angle Thomson scattering diagnosis, which showed a 35% higher result compared to digital holography diagnosis. Dual-angle Thomson scattering can provide consistent electron density distribution and may not be able to provide a unique set of plasma parameters at certain locations due to steep density gradients.

High-energy ions from Nd:YAG laser ablation of tin microdroplets: comparison between experiment and a single-fluid hydrodynamic model

D. J. Hemminga et al.

Summary: This study presents joint experimental and theoretical investigation of plasma expansion induced by Nd:YAG laser ablation of tin microdroplets. Measurements and simulations show an excellent agreement in the ion energy distribution near 2 keV, attributing it to a quasi-spherical expanding shell formed at early times in the plasma expansion process.
