Melatonin inhibits endometriosis development by disrupting mitochondrial function and regulating tiRNAs

Sunwoo Park et al.

Summary: This study found that melatonin and dienogest can effectively reduce surgically induced endometriotic lesions. Melatonin functions by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and regulating calcium homeostasis. Additionally, it affects mitochondrial function and ATP production, suppresses signaling pathways, and inhibits cell migration as a treatment for endometriosis.

Ethalfluralin induces developmental toxicity in zebrafish via oxidative stress and inflammation

Taeyeon Hong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of ethalfluralin on the development of zebrafish embryos. The results showed that ethalfluralin decreased the survival rate, hatching ratio, and heartbeat of zebrafish embryos. It also caused edema, apoptosis, and changes in gene expression related to apoptosis, inflammation, and angiogenesis. The study suggests that ethalfluralin can induce oxidative stress and have toxic effects on the development of zebrafish embryos.

Inhibitory Effects of 6,8-Diprenylorobol on Endometriosis Progression in Humans by Disrupting Calcium Homeostasis and Mitochondrial Function

Jisoo Song et al.

Summary: The flavonoid compound 6,8-diprenylorobol extracted from Cudrania tricuspidata has been found to inhibit the growth of endometriosis cells by affecting cell cycle, mitochondrial function, oxidative stress, and calcium homeostasis. It does not affect normal cells. Moreover, 6,8-diprenylorobol acts on the AKT and P38 MAPK pathways and reduces mitochondrial respiration in endometriosis cells.

In vitro modeling of endometriosis and endometriotic microenvironment - Challenges and recent advances

Agata Golabek-Grenda et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the range of available in vitro experimental systems used in endometriotic studies, from simple cell models to complex 3D models. The focus of the research is to understand the relationship between the microenvironment of the ectopic lesions and different stages, phenotypes, and symptoms, and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic concepts.

Exposure to iprodione induces ROS production and mitochondrial dysfunction in porcine trophectoderm and uterine luminal epithelial cells, leading to implantation defects during early pregnancy

Wonhyoung Park et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that iprodione exhibits cytotoxic effects on porcine trophectoderm and luminal epithelium cells, inhibiting cell viability, proliferation, and migration, and impairing the implantation process.

Inflammatory Mediators and Pain in Endometriosis: A Systematic Review

Nikolaos Machairiotis et al.

Summary: Inflammatory mediators play a crucial role in inducing pain in endometriosis. Inhibition of the synthesis of these mediators may provide an effective treatment for inflammation-induced pain in endometriosis. Identifying and targeting these mediators could lead to the development of novel treatments for chronic pelvic pain in endometriosis patients.

SCM-198 ameliorates endometrial inflammation via suppressing the LPS-JNK- cJUN/cFOS-TLR4-NF-κB pathway

Yikong Lin et al.

Summary: SCM-198, a synthetic form of leonurine, has been found to possess anti-inflammatory effects and inhibit endometrial inflammation by suppressing the LPS-JNK-cJUN/cFOS-TLR4-NF-kappa B signaling pathway. In vivo studies in a mouse model showed that SCM-198 could be effective in preventing and treating endometritis, whether administered pre-treatment or post-treatment via vaginal or intraperitoneal administration.

Endometriosis: Etiology, pathobiology, and therapeutic prospects

Philippa T. K. Saunders et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a common condition associated with infertility that causes chronic pain in women. The exact cause and natural history are still uncertain, but hormonal, neurological, and immunological factors are believed to play a role in the development of symptoms. Current interventions have limited efficacy with high rates of symptom recurrence.
