Experiences of surrogates and intended parents of surrogacy arrangements: a systematic review

The findings reveal that the experiences of both parties are largely satisfactory and frequently involve positive relationships forming between them. However, there are also challenges, particularly when surrogates and intended parents reside in different countries.

The findings highlight disparities in parents' experiences in different countries, especially in obtaining necessary documents upon return to the UK. Further research is needed to assess the long-term impact of these early decisions and experiences on parental wellbeing and children's welfare.
