Summary: Mature oocyte cryopreservation is an important trend for future fertility preservation. However, its clinical application is hindered by its relatively low efficiency. Proteomic profiling was used to compare protein expression between fresh and vitrified oocytes. The results showed significant changes in protein expression in vitrified oocytes, affecting metabolism, mitochondrial function, cytoskeleton, and other cell functions. The largest category of proteins involved in signaling transduction mechanisms. Moreover, vitrification caused multi-level damages to oocytes.

Effects of oocyte vitrification on gene expression in the liver and kidney tissues of adult offspring

Summary: In this study, the effect of oocyte vitrification on gene expression in adult mice offspring's organs was investigated for the first time. The results showed that only a small number of genes were significantly affected, with abnormalities observed in liver and kidney function-related genes. However, known imprinted genes and DNA methylation-related genes were not affected by oocyte vitrification. These findings suggest the potential adverse effects of oocyte vitrification and the need for further research.
