The LH surge and ovulation re-visited: a systematic review and meta-analysis and implications for true natural cycle frozen thawed embryo transfer

Murat Erden et al.

Summary: This study aims to systematically review the definition of the onset of LH surge and the duration between the LH surge and ovulation in true natural cycle FET. The available literature lacks a consensus on the definition of the onset of the LH surge, with different studies using different criteria. There is significant interpersonal variation in the time interval between the onset of the LH surge and ovulation.

Is there an optimal window of time for transferring single frozen-thawed euploid blastocysts? A cohort study of 1170 embryo transfers

Belinda Gia Linh An et al.

Summary: The timing of frozen-thawed embryo transfer within a specific window is associated with higher live birth rates. The impact of the optimal transfer window varies between different embryo transfer cycles.

Adverse obstetric and perinatal outcomes in 1,136 singleton pregnancies conceived after programmed frozen embryo transfer (FET) compared with natural cycle FET

Louise Laub Asserhoj et al.

Summary: The study suggests that programmed frozen embryo transfer cycles may lead to adverse obstetric and perinatal outcomes, and recommends considering natural cycle FET protocol when possible. Larger properly sized randomized controlled trials are needed in the future to further investigate the outcomes of FET in programmed versus natural cycles.

Endometrium preparation and perinatal outcomes in women undergoing single-blastocyst transfer in frozen cycles

Kai-Lun Hu et al.

Summary: This study suggests that hormone replacement cycles may increase the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes such as preterm delivery, cesarean delivery, and macrosomia, while stimulated cycles may increase the risk of postterm delivery and gestational diabetes mellitus.

The impact of timing modified natural cycle frozen embryo transfer based on spontaneous luteinizing hormone surge

J. K. Johal et al.

Summary: The study found that adjusting the timing of mNC-FET 1 day earlier based on LH/HCG+6 or HCG+7 had similar clinical pregnancy and live birth rates, with no significant difference in outcomes.

Endometrial preparation for frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Hanglin Wu et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of different endometrial preparation protocols for frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles and present treatment hierarchies. Natural cycle treatment was found to have a higher chance of live birth and lower risks of pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, and very preterm birth compared to artificial cycle treatment. In contrast, artificial cycle treatment ranked last in effectiveness among the different protocols studied.

Summary: Current evidence suggests that natural cycle may be superior to hormone replacement treatment, while interpersonal differences in implantation window and serum progesterone levels at different transfer timings could impact reproductive outcomes.
