The views of teachers in England on an action-oriented climate change curriculum

Paul Howard-Jones et al.

Summary: The survey of primary and secondary teachers in England indicates their support for a cross-curricular approach to climate change education, with an emphasis on resource availability and basic literacy skills. They advocate for action-based CCE curriculum starting from primary school, including global social justice issues, and support the introduction of civil disobedience education at secondary school level. Results are compared with a 2018 poll of US teachers.

A new class of porous materials for efficient CO2 separation: Ionic liquid/graphene aerogel composites

Muhammad Zeeshan et al.

Summary: A new post-synthesis modification strategy for functionalizing reduced graphene aerogels (rGAs) towards exceptional CO2 separation performance was reported in this study. Impregnating 1-N-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM][PF6]) on rGA surface at a 50 wt% ionic liquid loading significantly boosted the CO2/CH4 selectivity by over 20 times, surpassing an absolute value of 120, showcasing higher separation performance compared to other functionalized materials under similar conditions. The tunability of both the ionic liquid structure and rGA surface characteristics offer great flexibility for the rational design of these composites for high performance in gas separation applications.

The Impacts of a Climate Change SSI-STEAM Program on Junior High School Students' Climate Literacy

Su-Yeon Choi et al.

Summary: This study investigates climate literacy among junior high school students participating in an SSI-STEAM climate change education program and finds that the program has significant impacts on improving students' climate literacy, especially in the domains of perception and action. The participants show characteristics of climate literacy change such as more concrete ideas, extension of thinking scope, positive responsibility, and relevance recognition. The developed climate literacy program has the potential to foster young people's climate literacy and nurture their understanding of responsible citizenship.
