Ladle Nozzle Clogging in Vacuum Induction Melting Gas Atomization: Influence of the Melt Viscosity

Junfeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of melt viscosity on nozzle clogging and its mechanism through simulation and experiments. The results show that increasing melt viscosity leads to a decrease in nozzle flow rate, an increase in melt heat dissipation, and an enhancement in crushing resistance, resulting in nozzle clogging. Continuous atomization process, uniform particle size distribution, and high yield of fine powder are achieved when the melt viscosity is within a certain range.

Strength-hardness relationship for AlSi10Mg alloy produced by laser powder bed fusion: An experimental study

A. Serjouei et al.

Summary: Significant strength and ductility variations are observed for AlSi10Mg parts fabricated using laser powder bed fusion at different orientations. The anisotropy in mechanical properties is attributed to the microstructural anisotropy and the defects induced by the additive manufacturing process.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Fe-Based Metal Powder Oxidation during Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: The study used MDs based on ReaxFF to clarify the atomic-level interaction mechanism between metal atoms and oxygen molecules during laser powder bed fusion. Results showed that factors like laser power and scanning speed influenced powder oxidation, with oxidation degree increasing with energy input density.

Laser Melting Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Ti6Al4V Biomedical Alloy: Mesoscopic In-Situ Flow Field Mapping via Computational Fluid Dynamics and Analytical Modelling with Empirical Testing

Muhammad Arif Mahmood et al.

Summary: This research developed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and analytical models to study the melt pool dynamics and fluid flow analysis in laser melting deposition (LMD). Through experimental validation, a close correlation and some deviations were found between the models and experimental results. The study also revealed the melt flow mechanism and associated forces in the LMD process.
