Properties of phototransferred thermoluminescence of Al2O3:Cr

M. L. Chithambo et al.

Summary: Phototransferred thermoluminescence of Al2O3:Cr induced by 470 nm blue light is reported. The glow curve corresponding to irradiation to 162 Gy and heating to 650 degrees C at 1 degrees C s-1 has at least seven peaks labelled I onwards. Of these, only peaks III-V stand out under phototransfer. The PTTL time-response profiles are analysed using various models and the results are consistent with experimental patterns. We put particular attention on PTTL from deep electron traps whose dose response is sublinear but becomes linear if extensive illumination is used for the phototransfer. The intensity of the PTTL corresponding to deep electron traps goes through a maximum with illumination temperature. The initial increase is ascribed to thermal assistance and the subsequent decrease to thermal quenching.

Analysis of thermoluminescence and phosphorescence related to phototransfer in natural quartz

D. E. Folley et al.

Summary: This study reports on the phenomenon of phototransferred thermoluminescence (PTTL) induced in natural quartz by 470 nm blue light. The main PTTL peak, peak P1, follows first-order kinetics with an activation energy of approximately 0.92 eV. Additionally, phosphorescence related to phototransfer was observed in the experiment.

Variation of luminescence sensitivity, characteristic dose and trap parameters of quartz from rocks and sediments

T. D. Mineli et al.

Summary: Our study revealed that the natural sensitivities of quartz OSL and TL are positively correlated, while the characteristic doses vary widely. Additionally, the composition of OSL signal in quartz differs based on the origin of the sample. Despite similar values of electron trap parameters in high, medium, and low sensitivity quartz, the variation is larger in medium and low sensitivity quartz.
