Association of Unmet Social Needs with Chronic Illness: A Cross-Sectional Study

Summary: This study aims to build a predictive model using integrated social needs screening and health data to identify social needs that are predictive of chronic illnesses. The study found that transportation need was significantly associated with chronic illness diagnosis, diabetes, and psychiatric illness, while food insecurity was associated with obesity. Further research is needed to evaluate the potential impact of addressing transportation needs on chronic disease outcomes for vulnerable adults.

Association of the Implementation of Child Tax Credit Advance Payments With Food Insufficiency in US Households

State-of-the-art of measures of the obesogenic environment for children

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review on the associations between different levels of obesogenic environmental measures and childhood obesity, finding that most studies did not establish clear links. Predictors of households at risk for food insecurity in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic

Summary: The study found that there is a common increased risk for food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic, with certain populations being particularly susceptible. Additionally, there are strong associations between being at risk for food insecurity and experiencing anxiety/depression. Intervention efforts targeted at improving access to nutritious foods, especially among minority and low-income individuals, as well as addressing the socioemotional impacts of the outbreak, are crucial in alleviating the economic stress caused by the pandemic.

Identifying Relative Changes in Social Risk Factors An Analytic Approach

Summary: While different racial/ethnic groups did not show significant disparities in household food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic, there were still differences in challenges faced within food-insecure households. Racial/ethnic minorities expressed lower confidence in their household food security for the future, highlighting the need for policymakers to address food supply capacity and ensure food equality among all racial/ethnic groups.
