Projective Cones for Sequential Dispersing Billiards

Mark F. F. Demers et al.

Summary: We construct Birkhoff cones for dispersing billiards, allowing the study of statistical properties of various types of billiards, including regular dispersing billiards, sequential billiards, open billiards, and other examples. Applications to chaotic scattering and the random Lorentz gas are included.

Sharp Error Term in Local Limit Theorems and Mixing for Lorentz Gases with Infinite Horizon

Francoise Pene et al.

Summary: The article discusses the local limit theorem for the Sinai billiard map, obtaining sharp error rates and mixing rates in the process. It also provides an asymptotic estimate for the tail probability of the first return time to the initial cell, while studying transfer operators and higher order expansions for eigenvalues and eigenprojectors.

Pressure Function and Limit Theorems for Almost Anosov Flows

Henk Bruin et al.

Summary: This study focuses on limit theorems and thermodynamic properties for a class of non-uniformly hyperbolic flows, particularly almost Anosov flows. The relationship between the pressure function and limit theorems is examined within an abstract functional analytic framework, which may have broader applications to other types of non-uniformly hyperbolic flows.

Decay of correlations for unbounded observables

Fang Wang et al.

Summary: In this article, the decay rates of correlation functions for a hyperbolic system with singularities that preserves a unique mixing SRB measure are studied. It is proven that, under some general assumptions, correlations decay exponentially as n -> infinity for each pair of piecewise Holder observables and for each p > 1. The exponential decay of autocorrelations of first return time functions for induced maps of various billiard systems is also demonstrated, which is essential in studying the statistical properties of nonuniformly hyperbolic systems with singularities.
