Fabrication of toughest and transparent electrospun nylon 6 nanofiber-reinforced PVA composites

Vishal Gavande et al.

Summary: In this study, void-free composites of electrospun nylon 6 nanofibers were manufactured as reinforcement for the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix using solution impregnation and filtration methods. The introduction of nylon 6 nanofiber mats as reinforcement synergistically improved mechanical efficiency for the PVA matrix. Optimal enhancement in ultimate tensile stress and tensile modulus was achieved by sacrificing elongation in the composite films with a 15 wt% polymer solution.

Various attributes controlling the performance of nano-composites and adhesives of TiC-PAEK

Umesh Marathe et al.

Summary: The adhesion between polymer reinforced with TiC nanoparticles and steel surface is influenced by factors such as surface free energy, shape, amount, and size of particles, and reinforcement effects in causing cohesive or adhesive failure. Nanocomposites containing TiC nanoparticles outperformed microcounterparts in various physical, thermal, mechanical, and adhesive strength properties. The extent of adhesive failure decreased and cohesive failure increased with an increase in nano-particles, as validated by available models for nanocomposites.
