Ultraviolet light crosslinked graphene/multi-walled carbon nanotube hybrid films for highly robust, efficient and flexible electrothermal heaters

Junjie Ma et al.

Summary: This study reports a simple method for preparing high-performance polymer-based graphene electrothermal materials from liquid-phase exfoliated graphene. By combining graphene with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), PTFE-supported UV-crosslinked graphene/MWCNT hybrid films were successfully prepared. The presence of MWCNTs increases the density of the films and the formation of perfect hybrid networks significantly enhances the electrothermal performance.

Carbon foams derived from emulsion-templated porous polymeric composites for electromagnetic interference shielding

Ruobing Tang et al.

Summary: A series of carbon foams (CFs) were fabricated from emulsion-templated porous polymeric composites, which showed higher robustness, more hydrophobic surface, and larger specific surface area. The electrical conductivity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness were greatly enhanced when carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and magnetic Ni@CNTs were simultaneously employed. These carbon foams can be perfect substitutes for commercial EMI shielding materials in the aerospace and wireless telecommunication fields.

Improved electromagnetic interference shielding properties of poly (vinylidene fluoride) composites based on carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoplatelets

Jie Wang et al.

Summary: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) were used as fillers in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composites to improve the electromagnetic interference shielding performance. The addition of CNTs and GNPs improved the conductivity and rheological properties of PVDF, and acted as nucleation agents to increase its crystallization peak temperature. The PVDF composites showed significant enhancement in storage modulus, complex viscosity, and electrical conductivity compared to pure PVDF. The new PVDF samples have potential applications as electromagnetic shielding materials due to their simple processing, low-cost, and solvent-free characteristics.
