Effect of ply position switching in quasi-isotropic glass fibre reinforced polymer composite subjected to low velocity impact

K. K. Singh et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of woven and (+/- 45 degrees) lamina position interchanging on an eight-layered quasi-isotropic GFRP composite under low velocity impact. The results show that the intercalated laminate design offers better impact resistance and the number of angle mismatching interfaces does not significantly affect the impact response.

Acoustic Emission Damage Detection during Three-Point Bend Testing of Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Composite Panels: Integrity Assessment

Hadi Nazaripoor et al.

Summary: In this study, the acoustic emission (AE) technique was used to detect the damage progress of short glass fiber-reinforced composite panels. Different parameters and transducer types were tested to demonstrate the universality of the integrity assessment methodology. Frequency bands associated with specific failure mechanisms were obtained from the literature. The concept of cumulative signal strength (CSS) and cumulative rise time versus peak amplitude ratio (CRA) were shown to facilitate integrity assessment for the complex composite material system.

Fatigue life and damage evolution in woven GFRP angle ply laminates

Kalyan Kumar Singh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the fatigue behavior of angle plies woven glass fiber reinforced polymer composite laminates through tension-tension fatigue tests under different maximum applied stresses. The results showed that different angles of laminates exhibited global or localized damage during fatigue process.

The Effect of Stacking Sequence on Fatigue Behaviour of Hybrid Pineapple Leaf Fibre/Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Mohd Khairul Rabani Hashim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the fatigue behavior of pineapple leaf fiber/carbon hybrid laminate composites with different stacking sequences. The results showed that the laminate with specific stacking sequence PCCP_45090 exhibited the highest tensile strength and outstanding fatigue performance. The study also found that the ply orientations significantly influenced the fatigue behavior of the composites.

Fatigue damage analysis of GFRP composites using digital image correlation

Hassan Gonabadi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the degradation of stiffness in glass fibre reinforced polymer composites caused by seawater, using three-point bending fatigue tests under wet and dry conditions. Analysis methods include Digital Image Correlation and Scanning Electron Microscopy to identify damaged areas and failure mechanisms. Results suggest that seawater leads to stiffness degradation and various failure mechanisms in the composites.
