Pregnancy in the time of COVID-19: towards Fetal monitoring 4.0

Radana Kahankova et al.

Summary: Pregnant women are at high risk during the COVID-19 pandemic, both physically and mentally. Remote home monitoring solutions can improve their mental health and reduce the risk of infection. The commonly used cardiotocography technique is not suitable for continuous home monitoring. Therefore, it is necessary to find an advanced technology for safe and accurate fetal monitoring.

Effectiveness of ambulatory non-invasive fetal electrocardiography: impact of maternal and fetal characteristics

Becky Liu et al.

Summary: This study compared a novel self-applicable non-invasive fetal electrocardiography monitor with a computerized cardiotocography in terms of signal quality and heart-rate detection, and assessed the influence of maternal and fetal characteristics on both devices. The results showed that although the non-invasive fetal electrocardiography had higher signal loss, it was not affected by increased body mass index or fetal movement. The high accuracy of heart-rate indices is promising for the usage of non-invasive fetal electrocardiography in the remote setting.

Analysis on population-based algorithm optimized filter for non-invasive fECG extraction

Lingping Kong et al.

Summary: Metaheuristic algorithms (MAs) are widely used in optimization, including non-invasive fetal electrocardiogram (fECG) extraction. This paper investigates the impact of hyperparameters on the performance of MAs and proposes a framework for fECG extraction. The experimental results show that the performance of MAs can be influenced by hyperparameters, and some algorithms may not be suitable for certain problems.

Optimization of adaptive filter control parameters for non-invasive fetal electrocardiogram extraction

Radana Kahankova et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel method for optimizing the control parameters of hybrid systems used for non-invasive fetal electrocardiogram (fECG) extraction. By testing and optimizing different adaptive algorithms, the study found improved results in fetal heart rate monitoring and detection of fetal hypoxia. The approach has the potential to be used in clinical practice for extracting high-quality fetal ECG signals and offering new possibilities for non-invasive fetal electrocardiography diagnostics.
