Multiple Systemic Vascular Risk Factors Are Associated With Low-Tension Glaucoma

Robert O. Funk et al.

Summary: This study investigates the systemic risk factors associated with low-tension glaucoma and finds that multiple systemic vascular-related conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and migraine headache, are associated with low-tension glaucoma. The study strengthens the evidence for the vascular hypothesis of low-tension glaucoma.

Degree of Myopia and Glaucoma Risk: A Dose-Response Meta-analysis

Ahnul Ha et al.

Summary: This study aimed to verify the dose-response relation between the degree of myopia and the risk of open-angle glaucoma (OAG). The findings showed a significant association between myopia and OAG, with each unit increase in myopia associated with a 20% increase in glaucoma risk. The risk was found to increase more steeply in individuals with high-degree myopia, indicating a non-linear relationship.

Effect of Systemic Hypertension on Peripapillary RNFL Thickness in Patients With Diabetes Without Diabetic Retinopathy

Min-Woo Lee et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of diabetic neurodegeneration on peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) and the effects of hypertension (HTN) on pRNFL thickness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The findings revealed that T2DM patients with HTN had thinner pRNFL thickness compared to those with T2DM only, and the duration of hypertension was significantly correlated with pRNFL thickness in patients with both diabetes and hypertension.

Intraocular asymmetry of visual field defects in primary angle-closure glaucoma, high-tension glaucoma, and normal-tension glaucoma in a Chinese population

Junhong Jiang et al.

Summary: This study compared the intraocular asymmetry of visual field loss among patients with PACG, NTG and HTG, and found that NTG patients had a more pronounced asymmetric tendency compared to PACG and HTG.
