Targeting the forkhead box protein P1 pathway as a novel therapeutic approach for cardiovascular diseases

Xin-Ming Liu et al.

Summary: Foxp1 plays a crucial role in cardiovascular disease, with its diverse functions in cardiac and vascular cells impacting cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress. Loss-of-function and gain-of-function experiments have shown the importance of Foxp1 in cardiac remodeling, atherosclerosis, thrombus formation, and cardiac development. Its activation has also been found to have positive effects on heart development and anti-inflammatory and anti-atherosclerotic properties. Understanding the actions of Foxp1 in cardiovascular disease can lead to the development of effective therapeutic interventions.
