Callus Induction, Proliferation, Enhanced Secondary Metabolites Production and Antioxidants Activity of Salvia moorcroftiana L. as Influenced by Combinations of Auxin, Cytokinin and Melatonin

Aneela Shah Bano et al.

Summary: The tissue culture technique is effective in reproducing salvia plants. This research aimed to enhance the proliferation of in-vitro callus and production of secondary metabolites in S. moorcroftiana using different combinations of auxin, cytokinin, and melatonin. The results showed that the combination of 2,4-D + BAP (1+1 mg L-1) and 1.5 g L-1 melatonin had the best effect on callus growth and secondary metabolite production in S. moorcroftiana.

Secondary Somatic Embryogenesis in Centaurium erythraea Rafn

Milica D. Bogdanovic et al.

Summary: Somatic embryogenesis (SE) is a crucial method for plant propagation in vitro, which can be induced from different tissues and organs. Research shows that inducing secondary SE at specific concentrations is beneficial for obtaining more and better somatic embryos.

Protoplast Regeneration and Its Use in New Plant Breeding Technologies

Kelsey M. M. Reed et al.

Summary: Gene-editing technology has great potential in accelerating crop trait improvement to meet the needs of a growing global population, but the recovery of successfully edited plants remains a bottleneck in the application of new plant breeding technologies. The methods most suitable for achieving the desired outcome vary depending on species' genotype and targeted genetic changes. Hence, developing and improving multiple strategies for delivery and regeneration is crucial in approaching each application from different angles.
