Diaporthe sp. F18; a new source of camptothecin-producing endophytic fungus from Nothapodytes nimmoniana growing in Sri Lanka

K. D. Degambada et al.

Summary: An endophytic fungus producing camptothecin (CPT) was isolated from the leaf of Nothapodytes nimmoniana in Sri Lanka, and the culture conditions were optimized to increase CPT yield. The fungus was identified as Diaporthe sp. F18 and showed significantly high CPT content in the mycelial extract. Tryptophan and ethanol were found to enhance CPT production.
