Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Dryness/Wetness in the Wine Regions of China from 1981 to 2015

Xiaojuan Yang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the spatiotemporal characteristics of dryness/wetness in the wine regions of China and found that most regions experienced a wetting trend. Drought and wet event characteristics varied by region and site. The study also found a high correlation between the dryness/wetness characteristics and the Southern Oscillation Index, Nino 3.4, and the Indian Ocean Dipole.

Effect of wild watermelon rootstocks and water stress on chemical properties of watermelon fruit

Musa Seymen et al.

Summary: The study showed that using rootstocks under water stress conditions can increase the sugar content in fruits. The highest positive relationship was found between glucose and total sugar, while the highest negative relationship was observed between sucrose and malic acid. Parameters such as glucose, total sugar, and citric acid showed significant changes under drought stress.

Modelling predicts tomatoes can be bigger and sweeter if biophysical factors and transmembrane transports are fine-tuned during fruit development

Jinliang Chen et al.

Summary: Researchers developed an integrative model combining fruit growth and sugar metabolism models, successfully simulating the growth and carbon metabolism of tomato fruits. By simulating fruits of different genotypes, they found that larger and sweeter tomatoes could be obtained by manipulating biophysical factors and transmembrane transports.
