Asymmetric and symmetric fission of excited nuclei of 180,190Hg and 184,192,202Pb formed in the reactions with 36Ar and 40,48Ca ions

A. A. Bogachev et al.

Summary: The study investigated the asymmetric fission of Hg-180, Hg-190, and Pb-184, Pb-192, Pb-202 nuclei, revealing the presence of stable proton shells at Z around 36 and less deformed proton shells at Z around 46. The analysis of total kinetic-energy distributions showed high-energy and low-energy components corresponding to fragments with proton numbers near Z around 46 and 36, respectively. The results suggest distinct properties of asymmetric fission in the studied nuclei.
