Perturbation of multi-critical unitary matrix models, double scaling limits, and Argyres-Douglas theories

Takeshi Oota

Summary: Using the saddle point method, the explicit forms of the planar free energy and Wilson loops of unitary matrix models in the one-cut regime are obtained. The study reveals that the multi-critical unitary matrix models undergo third-order phase transitions at two points, and one of them is multi-critical while the other is not. The spectral curve of the k-th multi-critical matrix model exhibits an A(4k-1) singularity at the multi-critical point. The perturbation around the multi-critical point and its double scaling limit are analyzed. The results show that the double scaling limit of the spectral curve is isomorphic to the Seiberg-Witten curve of the Argyres-Douglas theory of type (A(1), A(4k)(-1)).

Multiple phases and meromorphic deformations of unitary matrix models

Leonardo Santilli et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate a unitary matrix model with Gross-Witten-Wadia weight function and determinant insertions. Through exact evaluations, we characterize the intricate phase diagram, which consists of five possible phases. The physics of tunneling from a metastable vacuum to a stable one and the mechanisms of different releases of instantons are also discussed.

Theory space of one unitary matrix model and its critical behavior associated with Argyres-Douglas theory

Summary: The study investigates critical points associated with cosine potentials and determines scaling operators, vacuum expectation values, and scaling dimensions at the planar level. These dimensions are found to be consistent with the dimensions of a specific AD theory.
