Geochronological and geochemical evidence for multi-stage apatite in the Bafq iron metallogenic belt (Central Iran), with implications for the Chadormalu iron-apatite deposit

Summary: The Bafq iron metallogenic belt in Central Iran hosts several large Kiruna-type iron oxide-apatite deposits, which have rare earth element (REE) potential concentrated in apatite. The Chadormalu deposit, for example, shows enrichment in LREEs relative to HREEs and a gentle HREE slope in its apatite. The similar REE patterns across the belt suggest a cogenetic evolution for the iron-apatite ores.
