Local and Nonlocal Transport Spectroscopy in Planar Josephson Junctions

A. Banerjee et al.

Summary: We report simultaneous measurements of local and nonlocal transport spectroscopy in a planar Josephson junction using an InAs-Al hybrid two-dimensional heterostructure. Local and nonlocal tunneling conductances were measured as a function of magnetic field, phase difference, and carrier density using quantum point contacts at the junction ends. The reopening of a gap in both local and nonlocal tunneling spectra was observed with changes in magnetic field, and for specific junction densities, this reopening was accompanied by zero-bias conductance peaks (ZBCPs) in the local conductances. The strong end-to-end correlation of gap reopening suggests a topological phase transition, while the weak correlation of local ZBCPs indicates different origins.

Nonlocal signatures of hybridization between quantum dot and Andreev bound states

Andreas Poschl et al.

Summary: In this study, local and nonlocal signatures of the hybridization between a quantum dot state and an extended Andreev bound state in a gate-defined InAs nanowire with multiple side probes were investigated. The characteristic spectroscopic pattern resulting from the hybridization was observed both locally, in the probe with the quantum dot, and nonlocally, in the tunnel conductance of a remote probe. The nonlocal signatures revealed the extended nature of the Andreev bound state.

Phase Signature of Topological Transition in Josephson Junctions

Matthieu C. Dartiailh et al.

Summary: The research involves embedding two gate-tunable Al/InAs Josephson junctions in a loop geometry, where a pi jump in the junction phase is observed with an increasing in-plane magnetic field. This jump, accompanied by a minimum of the critical current, suggests a closing and reopening of the superconducting gap, showing strong anisotropy. The study's theory confirms that these signatures of a topological transition are consistent with the emergence of Majorana bound states.

Local Control of Supercurrent Density in Epitaxial Planar Josephson Junctions

Summary: This study demonstrates how local control of current distribution can be achieved in a Josephson junction using minigates, forming superconducting quantum interference devices. The enhanced edge conduction in long junctions can be eliminated by minigates to create a uniform current distribution.
