Search for Dark-Matter-Nucleon Interactions via Migdal Effect with DarkSide-50

P. Agnes et al.

Summary: The DarkSide-50 experiment used the ionization effect to detect sub-GeV/c2 dark matter and achieved enhanced sensitivity by analyzing the ionization signal alone. It was able to detect dark matter with masses as low as 40 MeV/c2 and set the most stringent upper limit on the spin independent dark matter nucleon cross section for masses below 3.6 GeV/c2.

Search for low-mass dark matter WIMPs with 12 ton-day exposure of DarkSide-50

P. Agnes et al.

Summary: In this study, the DarkSide-50 experiment at Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso analyzed the complete dataset acquired with a low-radioactivity argon target to search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in the mass range below 10 GeV/c². The new analysis improved the calibration of the detector response, background model, and determination of systematic uncertainties, allowing for a more accurate modeling of background rate and spectra down to 0.06 keVr. By setting a 90% C.L. exclusion limit for the spin-independent cross section of WIMPs with a mass of 3 GeV/c² on nucleons at 6 x 10-43 cm², this study extends the exclusion region for spin-independent dark matter interactions below the current experimental constraints in the [1.2, 3.6] GeV/c² WIMP mass range.

Do Direct Detection Experiments Constrain Axionlike Particles Coupled to Electrons?

Ricardo Z. Ferreira et al.

Summary: ALPs with feeble couplings to electrons cannot make up dark matter as their lifetimes are shorter than the age of the Universe. Constraints from x-ray and γ-ray astronomy exceed current laboratory limits on ALPs in the 6 keV to 1 MeV mass range.

Emission of single and few electrons in XENON1T and limits on light dark matter

E. Aprile et al.

Summary: This paper examines the origins of delayed single- and few-electron emissions in dual-phase time projection chambers. After removing correlated backgrounds, the observed event rates for 1 to 5 electrons are <30 events/(electron x kg x day). The study also derives 90% confidence upper limits for dark matter-electron scattering, electric dipole, magnetic dipole, anapole interactions, as well as exclusion of new parameter space for dark photons and solar dark photons.

Recommended conventions for reporting results from direct dark matter searches

D. Baxter et al.

Summary: The paper proposes recommendations for presenting dark matter direct detection results, particularly for weak-scale dark matter searches, and provides a series of recommendations on applying the Profile Likelihood Ratio method to direct detection data. Additionally, updated recommendations for astrophysical parameters and relevant neutrino fluxes are provided.

Calibration of the liquid argon ionization response to low energy electronic and nuclear recoils with DarkSide-50

P. Agnes et al.

Summary: DarkSide-50 has shown the high potential of dual-phase liquid argon time projection chambers in exploring WIMP interactions in the GeV/c(2) mass range, detecting recoil energies down to the sub-keV range. The ionization yield of electronic recoils down to about 180 eV was measured, while a model-dependent determination of the ionization response to nuclear recoils down to around 500 eV was achieved, the lowest ever in liquid argon. Neutron calibration sources and external datasets from neutron beam experiments were used in the research.
