Probing Symmetries of Quantum Many-Body Systems through Gap Ratio Statistics

Olivier Giraud et al.

Summary: This study extends the gap ratio distribution analysis to cases with discrete symmetries, deriving analytical surmises for random matrices with multiple independent blocks and validating them through simulations. The research shows how the study of spectral gap ratios can reveal the presence of symmetries in various models in many-body physics.

Optimal route to quantum chaos in the Bose-Hubbard model

Lukas Pausch et al.

Summary: The study found that as the number of particles N increases, the chaotic phase of the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian becomes easier to distinguish from random matrix theory, while the convergence of the chaotic phase towards random matrix theory benchmarks is slower when N tends to infinity with constant system size L.

Many-body coherence and entanglement probed by randomized correlation measurements

Eric Brunner et al.

Summary: This article demonstrates how the coherence between identical constituents in a many-body quantum state can be examined using suitable correlation functions. The paper also identifies the conditions under which low-order correlators can fully characterize the coherence, which is determined by the distinguishability of the constituents. Comparing correlators of different order can detect many-body entanglement.

Chaos in the Bose-Hubbard model and random two-body Hamiltonians

Lukas Pausch et al.

Summary: The study reveals a relationship between the chaotic phase of the Bose-Hubbard model and the bosonic embedded random matrix ensemble, showing agreement and discrepancies in eigenstate description and fractal dimension distribution, which aid in discriminating among different many-body Hamiltonians in the chaotic regime.

A dynamical mechanism for the Page curve from quantum chaos

Hong Liu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the Page curve can be explained by a simple dynamical input in the evolution of black holes, based on a recently proposed signature of quantum chaos, without relying on typicality. The operator gas approach is introduced to understand the evolution of the black hole's microstate. Void formation processes, where operators in the gas can jump outside the black hole, play a crucial role in leading to the Page curve.

Chaos and Ergodicity across the Energy Spectrum of Interacting Bosons

Lukas Pausch et al.

Summary: In this study, the chaotic phase of the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian is identified through the energy-resolved correlation between spectral features and structural changes of the associated eigenstates, as revealed by their generalized fractal dimensions. The eigenvectors are found to become ergodic in the thermodynamic limit, in the configuration space Fock basis, with random matrix theory providing a remarkable description of their typical structure. However, as the Hilbert space dimension grows, the distributions of the generalized fractal dimensions show increasing distinguishability from random matrix theory.

Wave-Particle Duality of Many-Body Quantum States

Christoph Dittel et al.

Summary: A general theory of wave-particle duality for many-body quantum states is formulated in this work, quantifying the balance between wavelike and particlelike properties. The analysis focuses on how many-particle which-way information, continuously tunable by the level of distinguishability of fermionic or bosonic, identical and possibly interacting particles, constrains interference contributions to many-particle observables and controls the quantum-to-classical transition in many-particle quantum systems. The versatility of the theoretical framework is illustrated with exemplary settings like Hong-Ou-Mandel and Bose-Hubbard.
