Improved interspecies optical clock comparisons through differential spectroscopy

May E. Kim et al.

Summary: Comparisons of high-accuracy optical atomic clocks are crucial for precision tests, relativistic geodesy, and the anticipated redefinition of the second. This study demonstrates a new comparison protocol that allows for longer interrogation times, resulting in a significant improvement in comparison instability. The achieved stability represents one of the most stable interspecies clock comparisons to date.

Improved absolute clock stability by the joint interrogation of two atomic ensembles

Weidong Li et al.

Summary: The study proposes a strategy to improve the stability of atomic clocks by interrogating two atomic ensembles sharing the same local oscillator (LO), resulting in a relaxed restriction of the Ramsey time and improvement of absolute clock stability.

Superradiant emission of a thermal atomic beam into an optical cavity

Simon B. Jager et al.

Summary: The collective dynamics of a thermal beam of atomic dipoles coupling to a single mode in an optical cavity exhibit two different superradiant phases. One is a steady-state superradiant phase, and the other is a multicomponent superradiant phase. In the latter case, sidebands can be observed in the frequency spectrum, which can be calculated using a stability analysis of the amplitude mode of the collective dipole. Both superradiant phases show robustness against free-space spontaneous emission and T-2 dephasing processes.

Cavity-immune spectral features in the pulsed superradiant crossover regime

Mikkel Tang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spectral properties and phase behavior of pulsed lasing on the S-1(0) - P-3(1) line of Sr-88 in a mK thermal ensemble. Experimental results show that for certain detunings of the cavity resonance, the influence of cavity noise on the lasing frequency can be eliminated to first order.
