An optical tweezer array of ground-state polar molecules

Jessie T. Zhang et al.

Summary: Researchers have extended the molecular assembly technique to an array of five molecules, enabling control and manipulation of multiple molecules and unlocking the ability to study molecular interactions. They have outlined the technical challenges and solutions inherent in scaling up this system, providing a platform to utilize the vast resources and long-range dipolar interactions of molecules.

Pair Correlations and Photoassociation Dynamics of Two Atoms in an Optical Tweezer

M. Weyland et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photoassociation dynamics of exactly two laser-cooled Rb-85 atoms in an optical tweezer and reveals fundamentally different behavior compared to photoassociation in many-atom ensembles. The nonexponential decay observed in the two-atom experiment cannot be described by a single rate coefficient and is attributed to the system's pair correlation. By probing the transition from two-atom dynamics to many-atom dynamics in a three-atom system, the experiments reveal additional reaction dynamics accessible through the control of single atoms and suggest the measurement of pair correlations in few-atom systems through photoassociation.

Decay of quantum sensitivity due to three-body loss in Bose-Einstein condensates

Dennis Raetzel et al.

Summary: Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) have high potential for sensing applications, but their highly nonclassical states are vulnerable to decoherence. This article investigates the decoherence effect due to three-body loss in BECs, finding strict limitations on a wide range of parameters and discussing possibilities to mitigate these limitations.
