Carboplatin Dosing in Children Using Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate: Equation Matters

Mirjam E. van de Velde et al.

Summary: The study validated a carboplatin dosing method based on kidney function in children with retinoblastoma, showing that it resulted in more accurate dosing compared to methods based on body surface area or weight. Renal function-based carboplatin dosing using measured glomerular filtration rate (GFR) led to more consistent drug exposure than anthropometric dosing, with the Schwartz cystatin C-based equation being the most accurate and having the lowest bias.
