Relationship between tight reservoir diagenesis and hydrocarbon accumulation: An example from the early Cretaceous Fuyu reservoir in the Daqing oil field, Songliao Basin, China

Chuang Er et al.

Summary: Analyzing the sequence of diagenetic processes in the Fuyu reservoir has shown that compaction, cementation, and mineral replacement occurred before the main hydrocarbon charging period, indicating that reservoir tightening occurred prior to oil accumulation. The analysis included the identification of various diagenetic processes such as compaction, cementation, overgrowth, and replacement, as well as the determination of the thermal history and forming temperatures of calcite and illite cementation in the reservoir.

Multiple-Stage Mineralization in the Huayangchuan U-REE-Mo-Cu-Fe Ore Belt of the Qinling Orogen, Central China: Geological and Re-Os Geochronological Constraints

Hongjun Jiang et al.

Summary: The Huayangchuan ore belt in the western segment of the Xiaoqinling Orogen, southern margin of the North China Craton, is rich in magmatism and significant polymetallic mineralization. New Re-Os isochron ages on magnetite from the Caotan Fe deposit, and on pyrite from the Jialu REE deposit, Yuejiawa Cu deposit, and Taoyuan Mo-U deposit, combined with regional geology and mineralization ages from other deposits, suggest that mineralization in the Huayangchuan ore belt lasted from the Neoarchean to the Late Mesozoic and was controlled by regional geodynamic events.

Mass Transfer during Hematitization and Implications for Uranium Mineralization in the Zoujiashan Deposit, Xiangshan Volcanic Basin

Teng Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the association between hematitization and uranium mineralization in the Xiangshan ore field. Petrographic observations and mass balance calculations reveal that Fe2+ plays a crucial role in precipitating uranium during hematitization, and the hydrothermal fluids in the system are Na- and U-rich and Ca-K-poor. Additionally, the development of calcite and pyrite in the fluorite ores suggests that another fluid carrying reduced sulfur and carbon may have contributed to uranium mineralization.

Carbonate complexation enhances hydrothermal transport of rare earth elements in alkaline fluids

Marion Louvel et al.

Summary: The study provides in-situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy evidence that the formation of hydroxyl-carbonate complexes in alkaline fluids enhances the hydrothermal mobilization of rare earth elements, which is significant for the mineralization of these elements.

The rare earth element (REE) potential of the Philippines

Cris Reven L. Gibaga et al.

Summary: Rare earth elements (REEs) are considered critical raw materials due to their economic importance and supply risk. The Philippines has potential REE deposits including Erawan beach, Samar bauxites, and El Nido ion adsorption clay. However, mining these deposits may face challenges such as high electricity costs and government environmental policies.

Fluids associated with carbonatitic magmatism: A critical review and implications for carbonatite magma ascent

Benjamin F. Walter et al.

Summary: Carbonatites are formed from volatile-rich melts and are commonly associated with characteristic hydrothermal footprints. This study reveals the presence of four types of fluid inclusions in carbonatites worldwide. It also proposes a general model for the formation and properties of fluids associated with carbonatitic magmatism.

Metamictization and fluid-driven alteration triggering massive HFSE and REE mobilization from zircon and titanite: Direct evidence from EMPA imaging and LA-ICP-MS analyses

Martin Kubes et al.

Summary: The study of main HFSE-bearing phases in highly evolved miaskitic syenites revealed that zircon has undergone radiation damage and fluid-driven alteration, with HFSE remobilization controlled by oxidized aqueous solutions. In addition, titanite released significant REE during interaction with hydrothermal fluids, while the dissolution of zircon and titanite under alkaline conditions suggests HFSE and REE remobilization was controlled by potassium-dominated complexes.

Hydrothermal alteration processes of fluorapatite and implications for REE remobilization and mineralization

Bing Xiao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the geochemical and textural features of altered fluorapatite from the Yinachang IOCG deposit were controlled by both sorption processes and the oxidation states of the hydrothermal fluids. The most salient feature in the Yinachang deposit is that REE remobilization associated with the alteration of fluorapatite by Neoproterozoic hydrothermal fluids is not strictly localized in extent, and REE in fluorapatite can also be transported in distance and precipitate as REE-rich minerals in independent mineralized veins.
