Frequency conversions of nine peaks based on dispersive waves and solitons in a tellurite microstructured optical fiber

Tonglei Cheng et al.

Summary: We demonstrate the generation of broadband dispersive waves (DWs) and solitons in an 80-cm tellurite microstructured optical fiber (TMOF) with high nonlinearity and broadband-tunable characteristics. This is the first time that nine peaks of frequency conversions have been realized simultaneously in non-silicon fibers. The results have promising implications for the development of compact and highly efficient tunable mid-infrared fiber lasers, wavelength converters, and time-frequency metrology.

Thermally induced generation of platicons in optical microresonators

Valery E. Lobanov et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a novel mechanism for generating flat-top solitonic pulses, platicons, in optical microresonators under normal group velocity dispersion via negative thermal effects. Two regimes of platicon generation are identified based on the pump amplitude: smooth and oscillatory. Parameter ranges for platicon excitation are analyzed for different thermal relaxation times, frequency scan rates, and GVD coefficients, showing the possibility of turn-key generation.

Tellurite glass microcavity resonators integrated on a silicon photonics platform

Henry C. Frankis et al.

Summary: In this study, tellurium oxide microcavity resonators coupled to silicon bus waveguides on silicon photonic chips were designed and measured. The resonators were fabricated using a standard silicon photonics foundry processing flow, with TeO2 film being coated through reactive sputtering to enhance the Q factor of the devices. Results show a potential pathway for monolithic integration of tellurite glass-based nonlinear and rare-earth-doped devices compatible with silicon photonics platforms.
