Strain-Plasmonic Coupled Broadband Photodetector Based on Monolayer MoS2

Donglin Lu et al.

Summary: A strain-plasmonic coupled 2D photodetector is designed to overcome the limitations of poor light absorption and small detection range in 2D photodetectors. The designed photodetector can broaden the detection range by 60 nm and increase the signal-to-noise ratio by 650%. It also demonstrates built-in potential and photo-switching behavior, constructing a self-powered homojunction photodetector. This approach provides a new strategy for designing high-performance and broadband 2D optoelectronic devices.

Observation of double indirect interlayer exciton in MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructure

Biao Wu et al.

Summary: Researchers observed double indirect interlayer excitons in the MoSe2/WSe2 van der Waals heterostructure using photoluminescence spectroscopy. The intensities of the two peaks were essentially the same, with an energy difference of 22 meV, in line with density functional theory calculations. Variable excitation power experiments confirmed that the splitting of the excitons originated from the conduction band spin-splitting of MoSe2. These findings provide a promising platform for further exploration of the physical properties and optoelectronic phenomena of transitional metal dichalcogenides heterostructures.

Dynamic control of moire potential in twisted WS2-WSe2 heterostructures

Shaofei Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a dynamic local deformation of twisted WS2-WSe2 heterostructures was achieved at room temperature using a diamond anvil cell (DAC), enabling in-situ dynamic modulation of moire potential. The deformation of the twisted heterostructure increased the moire potential, causing a red shift of the moire exciton resonance. It also observed a red shift of the intralayer exciton resonance and a blue shift of the interlayer excitons of twisted WS2-WSe2 heterostructures.

Layer-dependent excitonic valley polarization properties in MoS2-WS2 heterostructures

Shaofei Li et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the polarization of excitonic valleys in MoS2-WS2 heterostructures using circular polarization-resolved photoluminescence. The valley polarization was found to be the highest in the 1L-1L MoS2-WS2 heterostructure, and the polarizability of A(WS2) decreased with increasing number of WS2 layers. We also observed a redshift of the exciton X-MoS2(-) in MoS2-WS2 heterostructures as the number of WS2 layers increased, which can be attributed to the displacement of the MoS2 band edge and indicates the layer-sensitive optical properties of the MoS2-WS2 heterostructure.

Localized interlayer excitons in MoSe2-WSe2 heterostructures without a moire potential

Fateme Mahdikhanysarvejahany et al.

Summary: The spectrally narrow photoluminescence lines occurring in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) heterostructures at low temperature are not solely caused by the moire potential, as they can still appear even when the potential is suppressed by inserting an hBN spacer between the TMD layers.

Evidence for Moire Trions in Twisted MoSe2 Homobilayers

Elizabeth Marcellina et al.

Summary: Moire superlattices of van der Waals structures provide a powerful platform for engineering band structure and quantum states, harboring correlated insulating and superconducting states, as well as Moire excitons. In TMD twisted bilayers, excitons and exciton complexes can be trapped in the superlattice, offering possibilities for designer structures hosting arrays of Fermionic or bosonic quasiparticles crucial for quantum simulation and quantum information processing.
