High sensitivity refractive index sensor based on cascaded core-offset splicing NCF-HCF-NCF structure

Xinghu Fu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a high sensitivity refractive index sensor based on a cascaded core-offset splicing structure with no-core fiber (NCF)-hollow core fiber (HCF)-no-core fiber (NCF). The sensor consists of single mode fiber (SMF) cascaded with no-core fiber, and then the no-core fiber and hollow core fiber are cascaded, forming a core-offset splicing NCF-HCF-NCF structure. Simulation results show that the transmission spectrum is red shifted with the increase of environmental refractive index. Experimental results show that the refractive index sensitivity is up to 245.67149 nm/RIU within the range of 1.3355 ~ 1.3625. The sensor has the advantages of compact structure, simple fabrication, and high sensitivity, making it widely applicable in the field of refractive index sensing.

Large-range and high-sensitivity fiber optic temperature sensor based on Fabry-Perot interferometer combined with FBG

Qinpeng Liu et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes and experimentally demonstrates a compact fiber optic temperature sensor based on the combination of FPI and FBG. The sensor achieves high sensitivity by utilizing the thermal expansion coefficient of UV glue. Additionally, the cascaded FBG extends the detectable temperature range. The experimental results show that the sensor has a high temperature sensitivity in the range of -30 to 15 ℃. Furthermore, the sensor exhibits good consistency, repeatability, and stability during thermal cycle tests, indicating promising practical prospects.
