Plasmonic perovskite solar cells: An overview from metal particle structure to device design

Peiyu Li et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as a promising alternative for future photovoltaic technologies, with a high power conversion efficiency of 25.5%. Utilizing plasmonic metananoparticles (MNPs) in PSC devices has proven to enhance performance by modifying the optical properties and charge-transport dynamics. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of MNPs, influenced by their morphology, size, composition, and structure, plays a crucial role in achieving diverse plasmonic enhancements in PSCs.

From colloidal particles to photonic crystals: advances in self-assembly and their emerging applications

Zhongyu Cai et al.

Summary: Photonic crystals (PhCs) have attracted intense interests for their potential applications in optics and photonics, with self-assembled colloidal crystals (CCs) offering unprecedented opportunities. This paper reviews state-of-the-art techniques in self-assembly of colloidal particles for large-area high-quality CCs, discussing common defects encountered, mechanisms of crack/defect formation, and versatile fabrication methods for defect-free CCs. The advanced self-assembly methods developed for high-quality CCs and unique photonic structures are highlighted, along with future approaches in fabrication and real-world applications.
