Full Complex-Amplitude Modulation of Second Harmonic Generation with Nonlinear Metasurfaces

Zelin Hao et al.

Summary: Metasurfaces have shown great potential in optical wave manipulation but face challenges in multidimensional manipulation of harmonic waves generated by nonlinear metasurfaces. This study presents an efficient design strategy based on the hydrodynamic model of free electron dynamics, allowing for full complex-amplitude modulation of second harmonic generation. The proposed nonlinear metasurfaces demonstrate spin-selective SHG optical vortices with independent topological charges, opening up new possibilities for nonlinear metasurface applications in optical information and multifunctional integration.

Direct generation of optical vortex beams with tunable topological charges up to 18th using an axicon

Ke Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a convenient method for generation and tunability of Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) vortex beams using an axicon, achieving high beam quality LG0,m vortex beams with tunable topological charges up to 18th order. The combination of an axicon with a focused lens efficiently transforms a Bessel beam into an annular beam, which can be used to reshape the pump beam in a compact LD-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser.

Broadly tunable optical vortex beam in a diode-pumped Yb:CALGO laser

Lina Zhao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the direct generation of vortex beams in a diode-pumped Yb:CALGO laser with wavelength-tunable output ranging from 1040 to 1086 nm and a maximum output power of 860mW. The vortex beams exhibit good stability at different wavelengths and pump powers, verified with orbital angular momentums of topological charges l = 1 and l = -1 in the interferograms. Such a wavelength-tunable vortex laser shows potential applications in high-capacity and multichannel optical communications.

Theoretical analysis of periodically poled LiNbO3 nonlinear mirror and its application in a passively mode-locked Nd:YSAG laser

Lina Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper presents a passively mode-locked Nd:Y3Sc2Al3O12 (Nd:YSAG) laser using a periodically poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) superlattice, where the modulation depth of the nonlinear mirror is approximately 8.8%. Experimental results show that an average output power of 710 mW with a slope efficiency of 14.6% was achieved at a pump power of 6.5 W.
